Orchestra Leader

Jean Hudson (Leader) began learning the violin at the age of 10, joining the Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra near her home in Surrey in 1967. She read music at Exeter University, where she studied with members of the Dartington String Quartet. She also led the University Chamber Orchestra with whom she performed Mozart's 5th Violin Concerto.
After completing further studies at Birmingham University , Jean taught music in Hertfordshire schools for many years.
Now living near Woodbridge, she teaches music at home and enjoys playing the violin and viola in several Ipswich orchestras and local music groups.
Jean became leader of the CLO in 2009 and when she is not practising for her next concert she enjoys sailing the East Coast with her husband Malcolm, who also plays the oboe in the orchestra.
